In particular, see and refer to WP:NFF for notability, which is the guideline that the subject should be evaluated against.

This draft is a request to spin off an article. Proposals to spin out a topic from an article into another stand-alone article should be discussed at the talk page of the existing article, unless the draft satisfies a special notability guide. If the draft satisfies a special notability guide, please identify the notability criterion with a reliable source.

This does not mean that the draft should be spun off, and it does not mean that the draft should not be spun off. It does mean that discussion should be on the talk page of the existing article, Talk:Minecraft]. (If this draft is resubmitted without discussion on the talk page of the existing article and does not satisfy a special notability guide, it may be Rejected or nominated for deletion.)

Comment: This draft was declined six weeks ago as not satisfying film notability, and in particular the guidelines for future films. It still does not satisfy the guidelines for future films. This does not mean that the film will not be notable in the future, when it is released. It is not notable at this time and is not likely to become notable in the near future. However, the history of the film, beginning in 2014 and continuing at least through 2021, suggests that it may be in development limbo, and there is no way of predicting when it will get out, if it does. This draft has been Rejected by a reviewer in the Articles for Creation review process. DO NOT resubmit this draft or attempt to resubmit this draft or prepare or submit a draft that is substantially the same as this draft without discussing the reasons for the rejection. news for dummies may request a discussion with the rejecting reviewer, or you may request a discussion with the community at the Teahouse. A discussion will not necessarily agree to a resubmission. It should be noted that the reviewer has not decided that the topic is not notable. An article on the topic may be accepted in the future. However, there is no reason to think that this draft will become an article, and there is evidence that this draft will never become an article. If there is to be an article on this topic, this draft must first be blown up and started over.If this draft is resubmitted without discussion and without starting it over, or if an attempt is made to resubmit this draft or an equivalent draft, without addressing the reasons for the Rejection by starting over, a partial block or a topic-ban may be requested against the submitting editor. You may ask for advice about Rejection at the Teahouse. Development

On February 25, 2014, Markus Persson revealed that Mojang was in talks with Warner Bros. to develop a Minecraft film to be produced by Roy Lee and Jill Messick.[1][2] On October 8, 2014, Mojang COO Vu Bui stated that the movie was "in its early days of development", saying that it was a "large-budget" production, and also said that it might not be released until 2018.[3][4] On October 16, 2014, Warner Bros hired Shawn Levy to direct the film,[5] while in December, it was confirmed that Levy and writers Kieran Mulroney and Michele Mulroney, who were developing the film together had left the project. Levy might had left due to scheduling and deciding issues between the projects 40 Thieves, Tinkerbell and The City That Sailed.[6] On July 21, 2015, it was announced that Warner Bros. had hired Rob McElhenney to direct the film.[7][8] On October 13, 2016, Warner Bros. hired Jason Fuchs to write the latest draft of the film, with the previous draft from McElhenney.[9] On November 15, 2016, Steve Carell was cast in the film to voice an unknown character.[10] McElhenney left the film in August 2018 due to scheduling conflicts and the movie, as a result, was delayed with Aaron and Adam Nee tapped to rewrite the script.[11] In January 2019, Peter Sollett was hired to direct. Messick, who died in 2018, will be posthumously credited as producer.[12] In June 2019, Allison Schroeder was hired to write the script.[13] The director changed again in April 2022 with an announcement that Jared Hess would take over.[14] Additionally, Chris Bowman & Hubbel Palmer were set as screenwriters.[15]

Casting

In April 2022, Jason Momoa was in final negotiations to star in the film.[14]

Release

The untitled Minecraft film is currently scheduled by Warner Bros. Pictures.[11] Previously it was scheduled for a 24 May 2019 release, but Warner Bros. later moved the film to 4 March 2022.[16] It is set to be released in IMAX.[17] On 6 October 2020, Warner Bros. removed the film from the release schedule to avoid direct competition with The Batman.[18]
