https://www.eluniversal.com.co/temas/-/meta/gustavo-petro , Candidate for the presidency, confirmed on Sunday the favouritism that was evident in the polls over the last few weeks.

(Position of candidates of the Historic Pact on Pensions and inflation).

The former Bogota mayor Bogota as well as a former senator of Republic took the victory in the Historic Pact alliance and officially was elected to the presidency of the Republic, a post that he's always aspired for since the beginning of the third year.

The high percentage of votes he received at the meeting is the most representative of the Colombian Left and a solid presidential candidate, despite his controversial ideas and proposals on multiple fronts, including the economic one.

petro gustavo declared his intention to change the pension system through the establishment of a public manager for pension funds. Petro also plans to develop an arrangement which is "mixed-and-complementary" and private fund.

https://www.larepublica.co/gustavo-petro stated that Colombia is not a pension system but rather a system of bank profit. This is what people believe makes him the most likely choice for the Presidency. But, https://www.elheraldo.co/gustavo-petro said that he would not eliminate them but would pursue reforms to pensions to achieve a minimum pension for Colombians. Petro also claimed that there was no reason to increase the retirement age.

Another of his controversial issues is the fact that he repeatedly stated that he would stop oil extraction the day that he becomes President, a situation that has caused a lot of uncertainty among investors as well as the market as a whole.

Experts estimate that Petro’s proposal of ending oil exploration would have a devastating effect on Colombia and cost Colombia $4.3 trillion.

Added to this proposal is the idea of establishing an anti-oil front within the region and the world to move the economy away from fossil fuels, for which I'd like to invite the president-elect of Chile, Gabriel Boric, and the Brazilian Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, among others.

petro gustavo has said that he spoke with the Premier Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, about his plan.

His position on health issues has been also controversial. He has been insistent about the end of EPS and replacing it with a model of prevention that "guarantees all rights of people and not the financial gains of bankers".

He also raised doubts about the independence the Banco de la Republica. He announced that he would make reforms should he become President.

Petro said that the Bank Board of Directors of the Bank belonged to the Democratic Center, a political party. "What we seek, however, is an independent Bank of the Republic (...) and it seems to us key to ensure that the Board has the presence of the community," the candidate said in the middle of the debate.

Invamer says Petro has the presidency's in voting intentions.

The idea of releasing cash to fund spending by the government was not without controversy.

Petro's suggestions include an economy that is not dependent on fossil fuels, extraction of hydrocarbons and mining. Agriculture plays a larger importance.

It is also highlighted that he would make an overhaul of the tax system that would eliminate exemptions and the transformation of the concept of minimum wages by a real wage that is based on income and capital.
