If you're looking for a specific job, you'll need put the job block that is associated to the job you want next to an Unemployed Villager. The villager's role will determine what trades they can offer. You can take away a villager's job block if you do not have a villager who is unemployed. Villager Appearance:

Villagers' jobs may change based on their work, but the appearance of villager's attire will differ in each biome. To ensure that each job is distinct, they retain the traits that are specific to their job. For instance, all Farmers will have straw hats and all Librarians wear glasses.

Trading Stock:

As of 1.14, Mojang has introduced the delightful concept of 'Supply and Demand.' This basically means that if you execute one specific trade too many times it will not only make the villager run out of stock in the item you are trading for, but prices (amount of jewels or items you need to exchange) will also rise in the event that the item is traded frequently. Trades can be made up to four times before stock is exhausted. Villagers replenish their stock twice a day. The cost of an item will decrease when it's not traded.

Unlocking Trades:

When a trade occurs between a villager and the player, both gain experience. As the villager's skill level increases to a certain level, the next level of trades is unlocked. There are five levels of trades available to each villager, which unlocks better quality items. The level of the villager can be displayed by a color-coded badge that is worn on their clothing. It could range from Novice (Stone) or Apprentice (Iron), Journeyman/Gold), Expert(Emerald) up to Master(Diamond).

Wandering Trader

This is a little unusual however there is a single villager who acts nothing like the rest. The Wandering Trader is a passive Mob that appears randomly around the world, with seemingly no pattern. It has two leashed trading lamas that are similar to normal llamas with a cosmetic modification. Another distinctive feature of this Villager is its lack of trading levels. This means that the trades you have taken with him will remain yours forever. Be assured, however, that his trades will be reset next time he spawns in.

The trades provided by the Wandering Trader are regarded as generally obscure and difficult items to acquire. They are not particularly powerful or impressive however, they are valuable. Be quick, as the Wandering Trader will vanish after 40-60 minutes.

Popularity:

As an individual player, you are able to enjoy some level of fame. Negative actions such as attacking villages can decrease your popularity, while trading regularly or curing zombie villagers are great ways to increase it. Negative actions can increase prices while positive actions may decrease them.

Let's say Illagers attack your village without warning. You happen to be in the vicinity and you are able to fend off the attack. You will be rewarded with the 'Heroes of the Village" status effect, which can further reduce the cost of trade (except for trades that cost 1 Emerald).

Those are the basics of Villager jobs and the trading of villages. Now you should be able to manage your villager farm with ease! Mojang believes that it is necessary to take the carpet off the floor often, and for better or worse, trading in Minecraft is slightly more complicated with Supply & Demand mechanics, along with the popularity function. You can use these features to either greatly help you, or even ruin the trading economy on your Minecraft server. I hope that you found this guide helpful. I hope you have a great time and success!
