Minecraft Realms Multiplayer Finally Heads To Apple TV

If you've been thinking about how you can play Minecraft with your gamers on the Apple TV It's time to get excited. The most recent update to the Apple TV version of this popular game allows "Realms," Minecraft's subscription-based multiplayer system. The upgraded version also comes with Xbox Live authentication support, which will let players access their linked avatars and character skins.



Realms accounts are like buying a Minecraft server. However the account is run by Microsoft, so you don’t need to worry about hosting or IP addresses. You are in control of who is allowed to access your private Minecraft Realm. That way you don't need to worry about someone destroying your world as you fight exploding Creepers or building amazing recreations of King's Landing from Game of Thrones. Owners of existing Realms subscriptions for Mac, Linux, or PC are not able to play alongside their iOS and Apple TV brethren. There are two Realms systems that are designed for PCs: one for Macs, and one that is compatible with iOS and Android users. We contacted the company to find out whether plans exist to connect the two systems.
